Cold & blocked nose
- Steam inhalation 2–3 times a day loosens congestion — plain steam is enough.
- Warm fluids (soup, haldi doodh, ginger-tulsi tea) soothe the throat and keep you hydrated.
- Saline drops or gargles help a stuffy nose and scratchy throat.
- Rest matters more than any remedy — a cold typically clears in 5–7 days.
Cough
- Half a teaspoon of honey (adults and children above 1 year only) can calm a night-time cough.
- Warm salt-water gargles ease throat irritation that triggers coughing.
- Keep the head slightly elevated while sleeping if cough worsens on lying down.
Mild fever
- Rest, light clothing and plenty of fluids are the core of fever care.
- Sponging with lukewarm (not cold) water can ease discomfort.
- Track the temperature morning and evening rather than guessing by touch.
Indigestion & acidity
- Smaller, slower meals reduce the load on your stomach.
- Jeera water or saunf after meals is a gentle traditional aid for bloating.
- Avoid lying down for 2–3 hours after a heavy meal.
- Curd or buttermilk with a pinch of roasted jeera can settle a mildly upset stomach.
Headache
- Dehydration is a very common trigger — drink a glass or two of water first.
- Rest in a quiet, dim room; screens make most headaches worse.
- A cold compress on the forehead or a warm compress on the neck can help tension headaches.
See a doctor without delay if…
- Fever above 103°F (39.4°C), or any fever lasting more than 3 days.
- Cough beyond 2 weeks, breathlessness, chest pain, or blood in sputum.
- Severe or 'worst-ever' headache, headache with vomiting, stiff neck or vision changes.
- Signs of dehydration, persistent vomiting, or symptoms in infants, pregnant women or the elderly.
